A Waldwick Electrician Who Answers The Phone

We're a small residential and light commercial shop working out of 48 Campbell Street. We've spent more than a decade on the electrical systems that Bergen County homes actually have: 1920s colonials near the train station, mid-century ranches, and newer builds up toward Saddle River and Franklin Lakes.

That means we know the local pattern. Federal Pacific panels sitting in a lot of North Jersey basements. Knob-and-tube left in pre-war walls. Aluminum branch circuits from the early '70s. We tell you what we find in plain language, quote the work before we start, and coordinate the service side with PSE&G so you're not chasing the utility yourself.

We're not the biggest shop in the county, and that's the point. You get the same electrician who's built a reputation one honest job at a time, not whoever a dispatcher happened to send. When we say we'll be there, we mean it. When we quote a job, that's the number you pay.

Real People, Not A Call CenterYou call, we pick up. The person who answers is the person who shows up.
Priced Before We StartYou get the number up front. No surprise line items after the work is done.

// What We Handle

Every Residential Scope, From A 60-Year-Old Panel To A 22kW Charger

Bergen County housing stock runs the full range, so our work does too. Tap any service to see how we approach it, or call and we'll talk it through in a couple of minutes.

That's the short list. We also handle outlets and switches, smoke detector code work, and the full residential electrical scope for homes across the area.

// A Real North Jersey Problem

Federal Pacific And Zinsco Panels Are A Bergen County Story

Federal Pacific Electric was based in Newark, so Stab-Lok panels went into a huge share of North Jersey homes built between the 1950s and 1980s. Independent testing found many of those breakers fail to trip under overload. A 2002 New Jersey court ruling found the company had misrepresented its testing.

Zinsco panels have their own version of the same problem. If your panel carries either name, it isn't a cosmetic issue, and it's one of the first things a home inspector or insurer flags. We replace them properly and document the work so your coverage isn't in question.

If you're buying or selling anywhere nearby, this is the panel that shows up in the inspection report and stalls the deal. Getting ahead of it is almost always cheaper and a lot calmer than scrambling the week of closing.

Level 2 EV Chargers, Sized To Your Service

A charger is only as good as the panel behind it. We run a real load calculation first, check whether your existing service can carry the added draw, and coordinate with PSE&G when an upgrade is part of the job.

We install Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox, and other Level 2 units, set on a dedicated circuit and placed where the cable actually reaches your car. No extension cords, no borrowed circuits, no guesswork.

We'll talk through where the charger should live, too. Garage, driveway, or the side of the house, the goal is a clean run and a spot that fits how you park. Small decisions up front save you from a cord stretched across the garage every single night.

The Older-Home Electrical Reality Around Waldwick

Waldwick was a rail hub by 1886, and a lot of the surrounding boroughs filled in with homes long before central air, EV chargers, and modern kitchens existed. That history is still sitting in the walls. Most of the calls we get trace back to the same handful of aging systems, and knowing which one you've got changes everything about the fix.

Knob-And-Tube WiringFound in pre-1940 homes across the area. It has no ground, gets brittle with age, and insurers routinely flag it. We replace the runs that matter and leave you documentation.
Aluminum Branch CircuitsCommon in ranches and colonials wired between 1965 and 1973. The CPSC found it far more likely to overheat at connections than copper. We remediate or replace it.
Cloth-Covered CableUsed into the 1960s, with insulation that cracks once it's disturbed. If your outlets and switches feel dated, this is often what's behind them.
Panels At CapacityA 100-amp panel from the 1970s runs out of room fast once you add modern loads. We check the real capacity before you pile on another circuit.

Whether it turns into a targeted repair, a fresh installation, or ongoing maintenance, the first step is the same. Someone who actually knows this housing stock takes a look and tells you what's really going on, before anyone starts pulling wire.

Recent Work Around Bergen County

A few jobs that show the kind of work we do most weeks. Names and exact addresses stay private, but the housing stock and the fixes are real Bergen County situations.

RIDGEWOODPANEL UPGRADE

1920s Colonial, Federal Pacific Out

A buyer's inspection flagged a Stab-Lok panel near the train station. We pulled it, set a new 200-amp service, cleaned up a stack of double-tapped breakers, and coordinated the cutover with PSE&G so the family had power back the same day.

HO-HO-KUSEV CHARGER

Tesla Wall Connector, Sized Right

New EV in the driveway, older 150-amp panel in the garage. We ran the load calc, made room on the panel, and set a dedicated circuit for the Wall Connector so it charges at full speed without tripping the rest of the house.

ALLENDALEREWIRE

Mid-Century Ranch, Insurance Flag Cleared

The homeowner's carrier warned about aluminum branch wiring and old knob-and-tube in the attic. We replaced the affected runs, brought the circuits up to current code, and documented everything so the coverage question went away.

// Straight Answers

Questions Waldwick Homeowners Ask

Do You Really Answer 24/7+
Yes. If something electrical is scaring you at midnight, that's exactly when you should call. A burning smell, sparks, a hot panel, or a dead circuit is worth a phone call at any hour, and someone will pick up. We'd rather talk you through shutting a breaker off safely at 2am than have you wait until morning and hope it holds.
How Do I Know If I Have A Federal Pacific Panel+
Open the panel door and look for the "Federal Pacific" or "Stab-Lok" name, usually on the label or the breaker handles. Zinsco panels are marked similarly, often with a colorful row of breakers. If you see either, send us a photo or call, and we'll tell you whether it's worth acting on. You don't need to touch anything inside the panel to check the name on the door.
Can You Coordinate The Service Upgrade With PSE&G+
We do it on most panel jobs. When a service upgrade needs the utility to disconnect and reconnect, we schedule that side with PSE&G so you're not stuck playing middleman between the electrician and the power company. We also handle the permit and inspection side, so the paperwork trail is clean when the town signs off.
My Insurer Flagged Knob-And-Tube. Can You Help+
Yes, and it's common around here. We replace the flagged wiring, bring the circuits up to code, and give you documentation of the work. That paperwork is usually what carriers want before they'll renew or bind a policy. The same goes for aluminum branch wiring and old Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels, which are the other three things that tend to trigger a non-renewal letter in this part of New Jersey.
Which EV Chargers Do You Install+
Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox, JuiceBox, and other common Level 2 units. We size the circuit to your panel and your driving, so the charger runs at full speed without overloading the rest of the house.
Do You Cover Ridgewood, Wyckoff, And Saddle River+
We do. Those are all a short drive from Campbell Street and all on PSE&G territory. If you're in a Bergen County borough near Waldwick and you're not sure whether we reach you, just call and ask.
Is My 100-Amp Panel Too Small For Today's Loads+
It might be. A 100-amp service that was fine in 1970 can struggle once you add central air, a heat pump, an EV charger, and a modern kitchen. We run the numbers and tell you honestly whether an upgrade is worth it for your home. Sometimes the answer is a full 200-amp service. Sometimes it's just cleaning up a crowded panel. We won't sell you the bigger job if you don't need it.
What Areas Of Electrical Work Do You Take On+
Residential and light commercial. Panels, rewires, EV chargers, generators, repairs, inspections, surge protection, lighting, and code work like smoke detectors. If it's wiring, a circuit, or a panel, it's in our lane. Call and describe it, and if it's genuinely not something we do, we'll tell you that too instead of wasting your time.
